The Best Time of Day for an In-Home Newborn Photoshoot

If you are expecting a baby (or if you have just welcomed your little one), you may be wondering what  is the best time of day for newborn photos.  Timing plays a big role in how relaxed your baby feels, how calm the home environment is and how smooth the session flows.

For this reason, I only offer morning in-home newborn sessions as they consistently give the best results for baby and parents.

Why Morning Sessions Are Best for Newborn Photography

Newborns are generally at their calmest and sleepiest in the morning. After a good feed, many babies settle into a deeper sleep, which makes it easier to capture those soft, peaceful newborn poses and sleepy expressions.

THE HOME IS CALMER IN THE MORNING

In most households, mornings are quieter.  Siblings are often calmer, the house feels less chaotic, and parents are not yet exhausted from the full day.

Final thoughts

The best time of day for newborn photos is when baby is settled, calm, and most likely to sleep.  For most newborns, that is in the morning.  Morning sessions also provide the best environment for relaxed parents, gentle posing, and a calm flow.
